CANCER Awareness
Cancer is a group of diseases characterized by the uncontrolled growth and spread of abnormal cells. The reason for many cancers, particularly those that occur during childhood, remains unknown, established cancer causes includes lifestyle factors, such as tobacco use and excess body weight, and non modifiable factors such as inherited genetic mutations, hormones and immune conditions.
These risk factors may act simultaneously or sequentially to promote or initiate the cancer growth.
Keep a watch on these symptoms:
In general the warning signs to watch out would be a lump, change in bowel movements, a sore throat or hoarseness that persists, any unusual bleeding or discharge and so many which you have already seen in the video.
Oral Cancer: Ulcers, white or red patches inside the oral cavity or difficulty in swallowing or opening the mouth wide, thickening of the tongue. To know more about Oral cancer click here... .
Lung/Throat Cancer: Persistent cough, chest pain, blood in sputum (a mixture of saliva and mucus coughed up from respiratory tract), shortness of breath, sudden weight loss or loss of appetite, hoarseness, repeated bouts of pneumonia of bronchitis, difficulty in swallowing. Stomach Cancer: Indigestion or heart burn, pain in the abdomen, bloating of stomach after meals, loss of appetite, weakness, tiredness, diarrhea or constipation, blood in vomit.
Colon Cancer: Diarrhea, constipation or any other change in bowel habits, frequent gas pains, blood in faeces.
Breast Cancer: A lump in the breast or underarm area, change in shape, size or color of the breast, discharge from the nipple, dimpled, puckered or scaly surfaceof the breast (like an orange peel).
Cervical or Uterine Cancer: unusual vaginal bleeding, contact bleeding, pain in the pelvic area, foul smell or unusual discharge.
Kidney Cancer: Blood in urine, frequent fevers, weight loss or loss of appetite, tiredness, pain in the side, anaemia or high blood pressure.
Bladder Cancer: The need to urinate frequently, painful urination, blood in the urine.
Prostate Cancer: Urination problems
Melanoma or skin Cancer: Change in size, shape or color of a mole or wart.
Blood Cancer: Frequent infections, abnormal bleeding from cuts and gums, massive blood flows in women during period, pain in joints, back, ribs and bones, abdominal discomfort and swollen stomach.
Please note that these symptoms could be caused by something less serious too. However, it is important that you consult your doctor for a proper investigation if any of the symptoms persists for more than one week.
