Aedes Aegypti: Yellow Fever, Dengue Awareness
Its raining everywhere in India, everyone were waiting for the monsoon shower after the scorching summer. But instead of us, somebody else are enjoying this rain very much. While reading the title of the blog you might have understood that I m going to tell about mosquitoes.
You might have heard from your neighbors, relatives or may have seen in the news channels that Dengue is spreading all over the country like a disaster.
The mosquito which is responsible for the Dengue, Chikungunya, and all other mosquito spread diseases is one and only Aedes Aegypti. If the Aedes mosquito is infected with dengue virus and bites someone will get Dengue fever. The mosquito gets infected if it bites a person with dengue virus in their blood. Don't worry dengue can't be spreaded form one person to other.
Symptoms of Dengue Fever:
The symptoms are visible after four to five days of infection and lasts up to 10 to 12 days, which includes
- Sudden High fever
- Severe Headaches
- Body and muscle pain
- Pain in the eyes
- Nausea (vomiting sensations)
- Joint pains
- Fatigue (extreme tiredness and weakness)
- Skin rashes (appears after 2-3 days of fever)
- Bleeding (nose bleeding or gum bleeding)
What should we do if we get those symptoms?
Visit the doctors and tell them the symptoms you got and ask for the blood test immediately.
There is no medicine for Dengue fever, but you can take some pain killers if the pain is too worse. Avoid taking medicines with Aspirins in them.
Be on liquid diet for 2 weeks until the fever is recovered. Drink 3 to 4 litres of fruit juices every day.
The dengue fever decreases your platelet count suddenly and it is very difficult to bring back the platelet count to lakhs. One of the great and effective remedy is to drink papaya leaves extract or juice which increases the platelet count in one or two days.
Precautions to be taken to avoid Dengue:
- Keep your surrounding neat and clean. Don't store water for more than two days in your home and even outside.
- Call the pest controls or insect and mosquito sprayers to spray outside and inside your house every week to kill the mosquitoes.
- Always wear full sleeves and full pants while going outside.
- Apply mosquito repellent creams and go outside.
- Use mosquito nets while sleeping if your windows and doors are not hole free.
- Don't wear dark colored clothes especially black, as the colors attract the mosquitoes.
- Take bath everyday and keep yourself fresh, the mosquitoes gets attracted towards the body odor of human beings.
