Cooling and Refreshing Foods of Summer




     Summer seems to completely drain us out. Most of us feel dehydrated and low on energy in such a climate and we look for ways to cool ourselves.
     Our body needs cooling foods that will balance our diet and keep our energy levels stable. Here we have listed some cooling and refreshing foods for summer season.




Tender Coconut
      

Tender coconut is full of health benefits and has wonderful cooling properties. It is laden with simple sugars and electrolytes and minerals which help keep the body well hydrated. Coconut water has anti aging properties and also its has cancer fighting properties.



Curd/Yogurt
 There are many variants of curd like buttermilk, lassi, or raita which keeps your stomach cool and happy during summer. It helps in digestion and gives you relief from stomach irritations.




Mangoes
  Mango is the king of all fruits which is most awaited fruit during summer season. It has lots of fibers which helps in digesting your food and can get rid of constipation. It helps to fight cancer. It has cooling properties which protects you from heat strokes. It has anti aging properties also.



Cucumber
   Cucumber are mainly used in salads which contains lots of fibers that helps to get rid of constipation. It has a high water content which keeps you hydrated throughout the day. It keeps you cool and refreshed.



Mint
  Mint is one of the favorite inexpensive herb which you can add to raita or curd or you can have as chutneys besides using it in dips. Mint leaves makes you feel refreshed.



Green Veggies
  Green vegetables are the main source of vitamins and minerals. It is good to have a high water content. Better avoid overcooking them because that can cause the loss of water contained therein.



Onions
 Onions have cooling properties and are very rich in quercetin, which is a natural anti-allergen. Having them in curries, salads, chutneys can provide you protection from heat and sun strokes.



Melons
 Melons can be Muskmelon, Watermelon or Papaya which are nearly 90% water which keeps you hydrated and refreshed. Also these contains lots of fibers which helps remove your body toxins.



Lime water
  Lime water is a very simple drink also known as nimboo pani in Hindi, is not only refreshing but also has some health benefits. Lime or lemon is a good source of vitamin C or citric acid. The citric acid in lemons helps maximize enzyme function, which stimulates the liver and aids in detoxification.




Ice Cream
  Summer can never end without having Ice Creams. Add some fresh fruits and nuts to male them more refreshing and healthy. You can go for a nearby ice creams parlors or better you can make them in your kitchen. Your kids will love them and you too.
