The monsoon months are heartily welcomed, bringing in the much needed moisture after the dehydrating summer. Our skin is in a better condition during these months and needs less care than during the summer or winter months. But even as our skin rejoices in the additional moisture, it requires a bit of pampering- after all, you wouldn't mind looking a bit more beautiful, would you?
The skin and hair care routine for monsoons. Try these simple time tested remedies:
1. Traditionally during these months, women apply turmeric(haldi) to their hands and feet. Once a week, the feet and hands are washed, patted dry and turmeric paste is applied.
Doctors tells us that this helps avoid the growth of fungus between the toes and fingers. Keep good health by taking additional dose of Vitamin C in the form of lemon and fresh fruits to avoid infection in the upper respiratory tract.
2. Soak almonds(badam) overnight. Peel the brown skin and put under the fan till its perfectly dry. Grind it and put on a stove till a little oil oozes out.
Add an equal amount of gram flour(besan) to this. Mix them well and grind again. Keep this mixture in an air tight container and refrigerate. Use a quarter tea spoon of this paste mixed with two tea spoon of raw milk to apply on the face. Let this stay for 15 minutes, as a daily ritual.
Repeat this once a week. This is a good conditioner and also helps arrest dandruff and hair fall.
4. Grate fresh coconut, mixed with very little milk, strain well. Apply this with the help of cotton wool over the roots and hairs.

5. Boil red hibiscus flowers in coconut oil(eight flowers for half a kilo of oil), cool and store. Apply this once a week.
Also, smoothly grind the green leaves of the hibiscus plant with a little water and apply it on oiled hair. This helps darken the hair.
6. A wonderful daily scrub is made by powdering three cups of green gram and a cup of rice. Keep the container in the bath and use instead of soap.
